Beaujolais Nouveau 2012

31.08.2012
Summer has finally settled in Burgundy and Beaujolais. Weather has been beautiful with bright, sunny and warm days and cool nights, except these last days. Under those circumstances ripeness has nicely progressed.

There is still an heterogeneity between the grapes and the parcels because of the long flowering season in the spring. We have noticed grapes with a small number of berries and others more compact with a classic Gamay look.

The volume of the crop will still be one of the smallest we have ever seen. The harvest date is expected around September 10th and if the weather remains nice the quality of the Beaujolais Nouveau could be good to very good because of the small yield giving more flavour concentration.

The flip of the coin is that the prices should increase.
