HOSPICES DE BEAUNE - WINE AUCTION 2001

DROP WITHOUT SURPRISE

It has been a long time since we have not had a sunny - but biting cold - weather for the Wine Auction afternoon.

As expected and wished and after 8 years of consistent price increase, in an uncertain international economical environment, prices have dropped by 23,8% on Sunday.

This drop affects more the reds (-23%) than the whites (-17%) .

Maison Joseph Drouhin purchased 4 of the 5 lots of the cuvée Beaune M. Drouhin at the price of € 3 500  per barrel.

We are quite pleased by this purchase as the quality of the wine was very good and the price reasonable !

Conclusion :
This price decrease does not surprise anyone as it was hoped and expected.
It should have an impact on the prices of the wines 2001, but as always, not in the same proportion.
