VERONIQUE DROUHIN
The family's enologist, in charge of winemaking
at Domaine Drouhin Oregon
|
Just like her brothers, she played in the vineyards
and parked her bicycle in the “cuverie”. Her first tasting experiments were
blind tasting games with her father Robert Drouhin where she would try to
guess the origins of the wines. Véronique obtained her Diploma of
Enology from the University of Dijon (the only woman in the class of 1985).
Her dissertation for the Diplôme Supérieur de Recherche (Advance
Degree) was on the Pinot Noir grape. She then did a couple of internships,
first in Bordeaux, then in Oregon. But a priceless experience was to work
alongside Laurence Jobard, the enologist at Maison Joseph Drouhin in Beaune.
The first wine she made on her own was the 1988 vintage of Domaine Drouhin
Oregon, the estate her father had just acquired the year before. She spends
at least three months of the year in Oregon and makes as many round trips
as required.
Her joys are her house and her family. She and her husband
Michel Boss (a web-site designer) drew the plans for their own 18th Century
style house. They have three children : Laurène, Arthur and Louise.
Her other passions are music, gardening and a thousand other things…
