MONTAGNY

Montagny is one of the four communes making up the Côte Chalonnaise, also known as Région de Mercurey. It is the most southern appellation of this Côte, with vineyards planted on a beautiful horse-shoe shape series of hills. Montagny produces only white wine under that appellation.

Montagny is a very attractive wine. It tends to be fuller than white Rully.

The bouquet is delicate with a hint of hazelnuts and ferns. It has a dry taste, slightly mineral, which should come as no surprise since a little Kimmeridgian clay, as in Chablis, is found in the appellation.

There is often a distinctive spicy taste which, again, is ascribed to the soil.

The wines should be drunk between 2 and 6 years.
